HOMEGROWN ARTISTS R. CITY IN CONCERT WITH MARIO AT REICHHOLD CENTER FOR THE ARTS ON FEB. 7TH

   It seems like only yesterday when brothers Timothy and Theron Thomas were rapping, chanting, and singing in front of their high school peers in the auditorium of Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS).
   Today, the brothers, now known as R. City (formerly Rock City), have a nationwide audience enjoying their rapid-fire lyrics and high-energy performances.  The St. Thomas natives have risen in the competitive music industry to become songwriters for leading artists, including Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Usher, Akon and Mario.
   R. City will perform at Reichhold Center for the Arts Saturday, February 7, 2009 as the opening act for R&B star Mario. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
   The road to success has not been easy for R. City. After attending CAHS, the brothers moved to Miami where they began winning major talent competitions. But after countless meetings with industry executives, they still did not have a record deal.
   Soon after, they moved to Atlanta for a fresh start and new management. Once there, things began to open up. The brothers rekindled a friendship with Senegelese singer Akon, who was enjoying great success with his hit, “Locked Up.”
   It was Akon who gave R. City their big break, signing the duo to his Konvict record label.  Timothy and Theron wrote the song, “The Rain,” which appeared on Akon’s double platinum CD, “Konvicted.”
   After writing successful songs for Akon, others artists came knocking and Timothy and Theron have since been in hot demand as song writers. Theron is currently writing new material with singer Ciara for her third album, Fantasy Ride, slated for release in 2009.       
   In addition, R. City is in the studio finishing their debut CD, “Wake the Neighbors.”  The hit song from that CD, “Losing It,” has been featured on MTV and other music video channels.  In 2007, MTV featured R. City in an on-air Rockumentary, following the brothers on a return trip to St. Thomas.
